October 6
Ever wondered what it would be like to live on a “deserted” South Pacific Island for two years? Bill will present images, writings, and treasures from his time as a 23-year-old Peace Corps volunteer teaching science on an outer island in the Kingdom of Tonga. He sent weekly letters to his parents on Cape Cod, now part of his recently published book, The Tonga Letters. Bill will also discuss the intricacies of Tongan culture, language, spearfishing, and the Kava ceremony.
