How We Contribute to Snow Library

Where does the money go?

Monies raised by the Friends help create a strong and varied collection, make many activities available that would otherwise not be possible and purchase passes to New England’s important museums and cultural sites.

On average, the Friends give approximately 30% of the money spent annually by the library on books and library-related materials. The town, state and trust funds make up the remaining funds needed.

Gift Acceptance Policy

  1. Friends of the Snow Library solicits and accepts gifts that are consistent with its mission and that support its core programs, as well as special projects.
  2. Donations of cash, checks or securities and other forms of support will generally be accepted from individuals, partnerships, corporations, foundations, government agencies or other entities, subject to the following limitation:
    1. No real property

  3. Securities may only be accepted upon approval of the Friends Investment Advisory Committee, which includes the Treasurer/Assistant Treasurer

Planned Gifts and Memorials

  1. The Board of Directors of Friends of the Snow Library shall encourage assets transferred through bequests that have immediate value to the Friends or that can be liquidated.
