Despite being underappreciated or outright ignored, women were there at the dawn of photography. A host of visionary women advanced the art: Julia Margaret Cameron, Imogen Cunningham, Margaret Bourke-White, Dorothea Lange, Annie Leibovitz, and many whose fresh outlooks will delight you. We will roughly parallel the history of photography, while looking at women’s contributions in portraiture, documentary, and personal/imaginative imagery.
