Malevolent magic or evil deeds – which is the witch’s strongest technique? Witches in the ancient world were often beautiful. How did we get to the depiction of broom-riding, wart-nosed, cauldron-stirring hags with pointed hats? Ancient witches were often known for aiding heroes to accomplish daring feats. They enjoyed positions of power. When did they become so malicious and obstructionistic? Seers and sorcerers in the ancient world could predict the future, or could they? Maybe predicting the future is just a way to make things turn out the way you want! Hecate, Circe, and Medea will be our star performers, but many other witches and magicians will work their magic as well.
