Marc will present the ways in which Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense, soundly warned the world about the false and seductive narratives of authoritarianism in four war movies: Secret Agent (1936), Foreign Correspondent (1940), Saboteur (1942), and Lifeboat (1944).  Through introductory historical context, the showing of each film, and guided discussion afterwards, Marc will identify and elaborate on the storyline, character development, and relationships in each film in an effort to expose the bewitching appeal and empty promise of autocracy and despotism.
