Souls of Black Folk: Changing the Narrative

Three classes   1:30 – 3:00    March 16, 23, and 30

This course will focus on current issues such as the debate over Critical Race Theory, the origins of the Black Lives Matter movement, and the work being done in Georgia by Stacey Abrams.

We will begin by discussing Carol Anderson’s book White Rage. The course title refers to a 1903 book by W.E.B. Dubois as well as a call to action by U.S. lawyer and activist Bryan Stevenson.

Works by Derrick Bell, Sherrilyn A. Ifall, bell hooks, Stacey Abrams and others will be highlighted.
