The cultural popularity of The Seven Deadly Sins has been a frequent theme in art, literature, and discourse since the Middle Ages. How did they originate? What makes them “deadly”? Why do they still hold some degree of fascination for us? Peggy will apply this medieval concept to Greek and Roman mythology, literature, and legend. How closely allied to the ancients are our thoughts about good and evil? When and why did these thoughts change?
4/10: Origins of the Concept – sins or dispositions? Pride as the root of all evil
4/17: Lust, Gluttony, Greed
4/24: Envy, Wrath, Sloth
