English teacher and department head, Joseph Auciello has published articles on literature, education and politics in several journals including the Boston University Journal of Education, Indiana Review, English Quarterly, and others.
John Updike won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and numerous other honors. He may well be at his finest in The Maples Stories. When he edited an anthology of American short fiction, Updike selected stories that were “lively, beautiful, believable, and, in the human news they brought, important.” These literary qualities are richly displayed in The Maples Stories.
