Friday, April 5 • Orleans
9:30: Howie Stein of “whimsical welding” will show us how he creates his metal sculptures from scraps left over from his old Land Cruiser. He also uses found objects and has made 178 sculptures on display in 18 states. His photographs will also be hanging in his studio for us to enjoy.
11:30: We will visit the Orleans Modern Gallery and Studio which is a newly renovated space featuring contemporary fine art. We will meet with owner Peter Kahlil and local artists—Frank Gardner, Taylor Fox, et al.
Friday, April 12 • Truro
9:30: Robert Cardinal will lead us through his studio and do a demonstration of his renowned colorful style. We visited him in 2019 and have had many requests to return to watch him paint again.
11:30: JOBI Pottery dates back to 1953 and was founded by Joe and Bill (JOBI). Susan Kurtzman bought the business in 2002. Susan will demonstrate her slip cast method and paint her famous “fish” trademark. She will discuss her new book on the 70-year history of JOBI in Truro.
Friday, April 19 • Provincetown
9:30: PAAM. Christine McCarthy, executive director, will walk us through the museum and share her knowledge of the current exhibits. This will be her 7th meeting with our class. Her time with us is a highly anticipated annual event.
11:30: Berta Walker Gallery. Laura Shabott is a multifaceted contemporary
artist specializing in painting, drawing, and collage. She draws inspiration from Hans Hoffman. She will do a demonstration for us at the gallery.
