3/20: Eco-Friendly Lawn Care
Peter Jensen, Presenter
Regenerative agroecologist
Founder of Terra Firma Permagardens
A healthy, well-nourished, vibrant lawn is one of our best allies in our fight to keep nutrient pollution out of our waterways. Soil erosion and pesticide residue, caused by runoff from road, hill and roof can be prevented. The answer lies in the leaves; it lies in how you feed your lawn; it lies in how you feed your soil; it lies in how you mow or choose not to mow. A green, easy-care lawn IS possible without using synthetic fertilizers, irrigation or pesticides. This is the class to learn how.
3/27: Naturalizing with Natives
Cherie Bryan, Presenter
Barnstable County Master Gardeners
Cherie will explain why we want to introduce more natives to our properties and what natives work in various environments common to the Cape Cod landscape. When we talk about the right plant, in the right place we consider shady areas, wet areas, sunny areas and the effects of our increasing warm and dryer climate conditions. She will suggest some native plants to help you naturalize more of your lawn.
