Jane Scarborough, Ph.D. Rice University, J.D. Northeastern, Professor of Constitutional Law
One class on May 6 from 10:30 – 12:00.
Immediately after the Civil War, the so-called “Reconstruction Amendments” to the Constitution were passed that abolished slavery, guaranteed due process and equal protection to all citizens, and prohibited the denial of voting rights on the basis of race.
Jane will discuss the importance of these amendments and how it took another 100 years before Congress again took up civil rights.
